This house in Nemra el Bassal, Mehalla el Kobra, El Gharbeyya was built by Sadek Effendi Escaros. He was one of the first Upper Egyptians to buy land in the Delta in the 19th century. He then hired fellahin (farmers) to farm the land. Today the farmers of the land are the grandchildren of the farmers hired by Sadek Effendi. The ownership of the land parallels this relationship, Sadek Effendi's grandchildren still own the land.
